for current monkey biz go HERE
Hola, girlz & boyz, katz & kitteez... 10.31
the autumnal month of October draws to a close & while winter here
is not the frigid and occasionally incapcitating experience it can be elsewhere,
the months of it loom ahead rather ominously, to ourowndarnself at least,
and we not sure why this be so, we just have a bad feelink about it...
today we keep commentary to a minimum & simply make mention of some guitar related linkage;
the other day a wild hair grew where the wild hairs grow & we just had to find some tab for
Lucinda Williams stuff, stuff that was a little harder to locate than the usual, & we came
across this nice collection of stuff, then we run across this buncha links, but things really got interesting when we came across this altcountrytab link which made us sit up and say "Whoooooheeeeee!, we hit the muthalode!" 'cause there's certainly some good stuff there. Amigo Phil
sent us interesting guitar related link, we include for you too, www.chordbook.com (he sent us that sort of in exchange for this CSN&Y link we sent his way), okayokayokay, now we
wrap this up (as yourstruly's got to hie hissowndamnself to the j-o-b) with this last guitar tab related link,
a ton of stuff to be found at danman's...
watch out for the ghosts & goblins this eve,
ourowndamnself's going to the movies...
holy boy1 we now at the j-o-b, doink some surfink
& we visit esteemed amigo CJ's site & he gotz Tab Linkage Too!
izzat serendipitious or what?
oh where oh where has the dumbmonkey gone... 10.29
laying low again, maintaining an even strain...
HooooHaaaahhh... got a gander a a FULL PAGE AD
in today's fishwrap, from the fine folks allied together
at www.nion.us, check it out, join the party & most importantly,
maybe you can make a donation, or get together w/some friends & family
everybody chips in $20 bucks, then you Do The Right Thing!
no money in muckraking... 10.24
but occasionally, just think of the job satisfaction factor.
from the SF Gate/SF Chron media conglomerate,
San Francisco Center Keeps Muckraking Alive;
attending that dinner'd be a treat yourstruly would enjoy,
it seems we just cannot get into our tuxedo anymore...
be sure to check out their website, www.muckraker.com
that last provided for those who do not read all the way to the article's end...
having a hard time realizing it's almost november...
a fine thing happened recently, a relief of late, as very few fine things
have shown up on our doorstep lately, and that fine thing is the return of
esteemed co-worker brightminded amigo Lee S. here at the killing floor of the
Chronicle advertising crew. Lee recently visited w/friend I.K. & his generousity
provided us with some stickers that yourstruly will find handy to apply in the correct
places, some stickers you may want for yourowndamnselves & pals of yours,
so hie thyself off to www.democracymeansyou.com and get yourselves some,
tell them Lee sent you...
also, we'd be amiss in not mentioning big festivities scheduled in Oak-town
on the upcoming Sunday, ourowndamnself likely involved in some other
shenanigans that day, but if time & inclination allow we would certainly
entertain the idea of visiting the
Dia De Los Muertos Fruitvale Festival,
hi there... 10.23
not much to say at the moment,
came across this site recently whilst mining nuggets of
linky goodness to send pal considering visit to SF Bay Area.
some very fine & lovely aerial images can be found here
and the usual servings of linky goodness available for you
to choose from should always include the day's daily bleed,
plus a visit to stop & peruse the latest edition of Ralph,
why not allow thyself the luxury of
a leisurely perusal at both those fine efforts...
ahhh, dost thou doubt our gentle opinion?
here,
a sample link from one, then here,
a taste of the other...
ohhhh... ye of little faith...
trouble in River Cit--uhhhh-- Uzbekistan? 10.22
oh, damn,
Starts with P and rhymes with T and you know that spells Trouble...
Uzbekistan bans billiards as morally harmful pastime, shuttering clubs across the country
hey, and again, jessferdahalibut,
The Music Man Dictionary
briefly, a reminder or two...
first & most importantly, on Saturday, October 26;
oh, and about that foto alongside, with way too long alt tag,
yourstruly was mucking about on the back 40 of the d'monquis
estate when we espied these butterflies, three of them at the time
fluttering about each other, two of them in a much more frenzied fashion,
slightly above the third, who seemed a bit more lackadaisical about everything,
and they gradually lost altitude so that eventually two of
them landed,
one appearing to be connected to the other, this all taking
place in some 5 minutes or so,
we thought at first it was such a momentary thing that we'd
not have enough
time to go back into the house & grab the camera, but then
by the time
the two were on the ground w/the other still fluttering around frenziedly
we thought otherwise, only to come back out and find only two still there,
the one still fluttering about in a state of some excitement,
the other still resting (?) which is when we took this plus
a few other pics,
our assumption being we chanced upon a sexual liasion between them,
imagining two males in competition for the attentions of the female,
and one of them eventually making whoopee whilst the other
fluttered about witnessing.
ahhhhhh, nature in all it's splendor...
also over the weekend we watched re-release DVD of A Hard Day's Night,
oh and you can imagine the memories that brought flooding back when you realize
ourowndamnself was a mere lad of ten when we first heard I Want to Hold Your Hand
our Momz made that 45 an Easter gift to us that year, wish I
still had that little sucker.
It was John that had the greatest influence on me, but all four of the lads
affected this boy's life, I wanted nothing more than to be a Beatle, to be like a Beatle,
and no doubt why I had my heart set on learning to play guitar,
and for xmas that year, received my first, an old Harmony Stella...
see it again yourself, and see what kind of memories it may evoke,
of course for many of you, likely none of any note or import, & well, asi es la vida, no?
oh, and jessferdahalibut, wanna learn some latin?
recently reminded of what a shithead yourstruly can be... 10.18
and believe it, we graduated Summa Cum Laude from Shithead U...
not really into contributing much to the weblogging sturm & drang of late,
but we did want to make note of & offer up thanks & congrats
to the esteemed S. Baum, wizard behind Ethel the Blog on his third anniversary
of providing & sharing loads of chewy (REALLY chewy) linky goodness.
great big Howdy & thanks also to el otro Esteban,
(better known to those who love & admire him as Uncle Cranky)
over at environy for his posting of the Tony Kushner speech.
just for good measure you could also visit our fellow employees of
the Hearst Corporation, laboring respectively for SF Gate & SF Chron,
Mark Morford and Jon Carroll, two fine & bright minds
as concerned as some of the rest of us are in regard to
who we are and where we are going regarding the current situation...
excuse us now while we remove our hair shirt & apply the lash again...
don't shit me now... 10.15
but is there really any reason to hope? arrrrgggghhhhh....
from the NYT, Saddam, the U.S. Agent;
and then it seems we're surrounded by minds like these,
of which, personally speaking, the less said the better...
ahhhh, Ms. Armstrong nailed it so well with her mention of this
some few days back, & we'll utilize that to refer to the
war-weblog types, the unquestioning supporters of the bush-administration...
an otherwise lovely weekend... 10.14
besmirched by the corporate thug & his co-horts,
& other than Senator Byrd & a mere handful of others, we too wonder...
Where is the congressional opposition raising serious
questions about which White House motivations are real
and which are spurious? More?
& a little additional food for thought...
Henrik Hertzberg, from the New Yorker, Manifesto
and if you got that down without choking,
here's Jon Carroll, It's the arithmetic of despair.
occasionally, the stench that rises from the Potomac... 10.11
caused by the shenanigans of those elected officials gathered there,
well, it's enough to make one retch, weep w/disappointment & dismay...
yet on occasion, someone attempts to do the right thing.
(& by the way, re yesterdays vote & local representatives,
addresses provided, write and let them know how you feel 'bout it!)
on another note, we'd like to thank Dr. Harley Farquhar of
El Cerrito CA. for his kindness in mentioning autreblog to
the astute mind there at the MSNBC weblog central...
w h a t e v e r . . .
we happy to see that John's footprints got mentioned TOO...
news of note to some of us... 10.10
likely important to only a few,
but important to mention nonetheless...
Memorial service for Galen & Barbara Rowell,
Sunday, 10.13, 3PM, Berkeley Community Theatre
and respected columnist J. Carroll speaks up,
Boom goes Baghdad, and boom L.A
the twin terrors of texass... 10.9
oh, they got it going on today!
we tippin' da ol'red fez inna direction of
the esteemed Mssrs C. Jensen and S. Baum.
& thanks for the reminder of Johnny's B.D., C.J.,
now I know what I'll be listenin' to thruout the day...
yourtruly's explanation...
ohhhh, maybe the death of a few thousand brain cells...
what we gettin' at this Am is that even though we added post recently re
the material girl's new film, directed by lovin' hubby Guy, is that we
hadn't paid sufficient attention to notice said film is a REMAKE of one hella fine film,
Swept Away by an Unusual Destiny in the Blue Sea of August, short title of course
being simply Swept Away
by the wonderful Lina Wertmuller
with wonderful actor who's appeared in several of her more notable films, Giancarlo Gianninni, who's
lately relegated to appearing in such crap as Hannibal, &, co-incidentally, whose son is the material girl's co-star
in the remake. Ennnyway... when this fact eventually hit bedrock in our grey matter we initiated a
google search for Swept Away only to be dismayed that the majority of initial hits were pointing to this latest
effort by the material girl & her beloved hubby, Oy Vey! we shouted, this is not as it should be, and we were just
a little disappointed to discover a relative paucity of material on-line in re to the esteemed film director Wertmuller
as well as the career of Giancarlo (& damn, why does everybody have to use the same face shot, yeeeeeeesssssh).
and yesssssss, yourstruly's aware of how to narrow the search & utilizing other search engines etc, but we'll allow
you the fun & games, ourowndamnself just gonna add a couple of links here to finish this off then am off to coffee
and enjoyment of a bay area morning celebrating the return of the marine layer after a few days of autumnal heat.
yourstruly intended to include an NYRB link, but you'll notice it requires MONEY!
so here's a review of Lina's SABAUDITBSOA; here a link to Ten films Better Than Titanic Involving Class Struggle, oh, & then just a couple of links jessferdahalibut,
4 interesting films to see (two of these by Fassbinder, another of our guilty pleasures),
and a Carol Lynley fan site, HooooHahhhhh... definitely guilty pleasure material...
the immoral of this story- DON'T see the remake before you see the original,
and once you've seen that, why waste your time, believe me, this I know,
Mr. Ritchie just doesn't have it in him, & the material girl, well,
she should stick to what she knows, an actress she is not....
ciao!
the shame of a country w/a "free" press... 10.8
is just how easily so many can be bought & silenced...
(and somebody's got to hire some good proofreaders 'round here)
from S.F. Chronicle On-Line, today's letters to the editor
PAY ATTENTION TO THE ANTI-WAR RALLIES
Chron proofreader showed up after weekend in drunktank...
& the pictures, you wanna see those pictures mentioned?
from SF Gate (wierdly incestuous kissing cousin to SF Chron)
Anti-war rallies across U.S. 8,000 protesters in S.F.
ourowndamnself was too depressed to check & see,
but those mightymighty national organs of news dissemination
didn't have very much about the national demonstrations held this weekend,
did they?
su... su... su... su... sunday...
w h o a . . .
stop the presses...
happy anniversary M.W.
The Big Chill, Part One ?
circa March '00
The Big Chill, Part Two
we wish more popstars would quietly retire & tend to their garden
& by the way, our previous dreamtime experiences with
guest star Ms. Richie are described here and here
jessferdahalibut...

2nd item of importance is from MoveOn.org:
Iran and the Art of Misdirection
Hell Yah!
oh we damn well know it be October, perhaps we even involve ourowndamnself in
some kind of re-dec around here for the oncoming winter season, if the meds do
what they 'sposed to we might even be able to make it thru Nov & Dec without
falling apart... Ennyway, the monkeePopz & yourstruly enjoying the last few days
of our leetle veezeet juntos, the Popz got lucky casino-wise the other day & pulled
in a healthy leetle jackpot, which he always shares 'cause the Popz is a righteous
dude, ourowndamnself managed to break nearly even, but it was fun & games we wanted
to have & that we had, in spades. Got back to chez d'monquis in the wee hours of yesterday
and we wuz sufferin' a mighty jones to catch up w/our our fave blogsters, happy to make
mention of a couple of things here and now so's You Too can enjoy fine chewy linky goodness
made available by some of the bestest in the westest & one or two from points eastern. whatchoo talkin' bout willis?
okayokayokay, well we stopped in at Charlie Kokonino's Bellona Times (we miss the ol' Hotsy Totsy moniker, but we realize the times
hav'a changed, for the worst in some dramatic fashion) & appreciate the heads-up on the K. Phillips tome, likely something we adding to our reading list as well; then we had to visit the esteemed C. Jensen who had wonderful opportunity to see some fine musicians in action over the weekend and is sharing some of his experience with us; then perhaps you can imagine our barely suppressed glee to discover the Texas Tornado had re-appeared after brief absence (what? you mean you got a Real Life out there, S.B.?)
then, (gonna get weary of that Then shit pretty soon aint ya?) we moved on over to another part of the blog cosmos and paid a visit to the exceedingly patient King of East Coast Ukelele Swing (a fellow we are constantly discovering we've more in common with than ever imagined) only to discover he be having pretty close to Too Much Damn Fun, but that's okay, you know, after all the crummy shit & heartache that happend to all of us since November '00, we all entitled to enjoying as much fun as possible, considering the circumstances.
alright, THEN we paid a visit to the wonderfulness of G. Armstrong's Open Brackets, a place you ought to make a regular stop on your own list of bloggos favoritos.
we be wrapping this up pronto-like now, 'cause the Popz & yourstruly still gotz some hell to raise before he wings his
way back to the West Texass Desert; always been a fave of ours & a good thing to make her aquaintence first hand earlier this year, the oft-copied but never (!) duplicated Jessamyn's Abada Abada;
the wonder that is Riley Dog; recently returned from European Holiday, another S.F. Bay Area blogster named John & his Footprints, goshdarnitall, there's chewy linky goodness abounding & it is Good! to see so many of ourownpersonalfavoritos still hanging in & doing the trick, we appreciates it, and life'd not be the same without
you.
uhhhhh, now that we got your attention, can I borrow five dollars?
more of our faves than you can shake a stick at (besides the ones in the blog cosmos noted above)
