friday only confirmed that working 4 days a week is an exceedingly good idea for the time being.
the receipt of good news and troubling news at what seems like the same time is discombobulating.
yourstruly even experienced the surprise visit of another brother, twin brother to bro Kenneth, David,
in the company of his strapping Pivarnick sons, Michael & Matthew, drove to Northern CA to pay us
a visit, and a good time was had by all, except we think for brother Dave, who had to do all the driving.
so . . .    how ya'll been? Have the headlines been troubling to you too? keeeerriiisst...
Our most fervent hope is that this will besmirch that jackass in the white house to a large enough degree
that his re-election becomes an impossibility, and somebody please put enough heat on Cheney to put those
goddamned documents out there in the light of day. These people are running the country and that fact alone
is goddamned scary to contemplate; the fantasies of running away and out of the country for a few years may
not be the courageous way of keeping our hand in, but this feeling of being outnumbered is hard to shake...

Decided to have a go at filling in more of the autreblog page, and visiting some bloggos favoritos along with
the usual online media fascinations; stopping by the awolog & what caught our eye was the mention of
two films by Mssrs Jeunot et Caro w/the suggestion that two of them were not love stories, and I (yes, that capitalized pronoun indicating Me, Make No Fucking Mistake About It!) raise my voice and say "HO!
Good Fellow, perhaps you'll want to reconsider that opinion before parading it before us with such certainty." Ourowndamnself did make mention of recently re-viewing City of Lost Children, and by accident, only in this last week, Sci-Fi channel (or was it...?) allowed the opportunity to see their contribution to the A L I E N franchise, and yes, in some way, perhaps not in the happily-happy-tra-la-la kind of, but they are all love stories.
Agree? Disagree? no, sorry, not that technically advanced around here (or innately inclined towards) installing a Poll-O-Meter thingie, yet, they are distracting and sometimes just SO charming, don't you think? That doesn't mean though, that we wouldn't be interested in what you, if you've seen these films and just feel like sharing
your opinion w/yourstruly, hold as your opinion in this regard. And Then- yesterday, while the entire Northern CA complement of Pivarnicks were afoot in l'marquis' abode, and along w/the company of some the West Texas components of the fabled clan, we had a newer-ish cd burner installed and an update to our fave burning proggie Nero, and while spending a goodly amount of time this Am testing both and finding the results awfully satisfying (ooooh, and brother K showed us some nifty tricks in utilizing proggie called Cool Edit to manipulate and blend soundfiles, and in the future Empire of the Marquis Fabuloso, we'll inflict what we've learned on you via shoutcast or some such) we were listening to The Royal Scam edition of Steely Dan---- Damn, Serendipity Strikes Again- this song just came on again in our recently compiled rotation and I Gotta Get Up & Dance!
oh boy was that FUN or what?        okay, back to the business at hand;
It was that song we were curious about. you all know the Dan is the band made of axe-wielding session hands, and Larry Carlton, responsible for that banshee guitar thing going on thruout, is one of those studio aces, and ourself was wondering what the sessions were like, working w/Mssrs Fagin & Becker, any yummy backround info on what went on in the wee hours, if it was the wee hours at all, sorta kinda like some nosy fan, ya know? Well, turns out we cannot say we were entirely successful in locating what we went looking for, but we did find ourselves entertained & edified, via things like the Dan FAQ (and there's a bunch of goodies on the Dan site that'll take up some of your time); this nice bit of work from another Dannite; another FAQ here, again a fan's labor, w/a bit of tongue firmly kept in cheek; here's another valid viewpoint on the Becker & Fagin collaboration; and we're not gonna speculate on the veracity of any of this, eventually the truth will out (it it hasn't already); if it's gotta nekkid dame in it it's art,
 and i like it, but she's gottabe nekkid...
now, a trio of sites, sorta fan-nish, maybe something else entirely, but definitely in the tenor of the moment; numero uno, numero dos, numero tres; am not sure at all what this next item is about, but is sure hellainteresting; a couple of examples of Serious Steely-Eyed Fandom, S.D. interzone and the ever popular (and rightly so...) Under the Banyan Trees w/S.D. where one can mine stuff like this from the former, & this interview from the Banyan Tree. Just few other things to share from this vein we're currently mining, someone's S.D. inspired Fever Dreams; the Steely Dan Dictionary;
more lies about Donnie & Wally; Oh Rapture! some fun stuff here and here. Okayokayokay, we tryin' to wrap this thing up now, but first, out of all the Steely D cover bands working out there these days (and there are a bunch of them) we like the name of these these guys best. Oh, and just what kind of pal would we be if we didn't pass along these thoughts of William Gibson.
Just refilled our glass now, and loaded the machine with Two Against Nature, it feels like time to move along
and do the happy dance, the weekend was a write off to hedonistic behavior in the company of beloved family and YES, we enjoyed ourselves immensely so much, matter of fact, the autreblog page'll have to wait

you beter move now little darlin' or you'll be
